Following on from cancellation of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Lanarkshire Middle Ward golf day due to weather conditions, it was re-arranged and played in near perfect conditions at Drumpellier Golf Club on Sunday 4th August. After a keenly fought contest Lodge Coltswood  Team 1 consisting of Bro. Hughie Taylor, Bro. Sandy Rintoul & Bro. Guy Shanks were victorious in the Masters trophy team event coming first with a total of 104pts ahead of Lodge Old Monkland St. James on 103pts, in true Old Monkland style during the faracas that followed PM Charles Clarke demanded a recount as in his opinion there had been a mistake and miscarriage of justice and they were indeed the winners, after a rather thorough recount of the scores and check of the cards it turns out that PM Clarke was as accurate  at working out the team scores as he was at keeping track of the number of large Gin & Tonics that he had had, need I say more !!!!!. On the Seniors Tunnock Cup trophy it was no surprise that Hughie Taylor got his name on it once again. The winner of the Challenge Cup was Bro. Neil Thomson PM Sect on 38pts , who only marginally lost out on the overall tournament winner and the new trophy donated by The Provincial Grand Master Bro. James L. Jack which was  won Bro. Allan McCall from Lodge Robert Burns 440 . The Lodge would like to thank Bro. John Gardiner PM of the Operative Lodge of Airdrie No. 203  or his hard work and organisation of another fantastic golf day at Drumpellier Golf Club. The official prizegiving will  take place at the October regular communication of Provincial Grand Lodge.

We are delighted to inform you that at a recent dinner held at Gartlea Community Centre a total of £5200 was raised on behalf of the Lodge Coltswood Glenboig Centenary fund and the Lodge St. Andrews No. 544 Regalia fund. The night was chaired impressively as always by PM Ian Wilson and the speakers on the evening just got better as the night went on, first we had the memoirs of John “Bomber” Brown who entertained us with the exploits during his footballing career, then following, a great supporter of Lodge Coltswood Mr Mitchell Gibb who entertained us with his usual wit and humour, last and by no means least was the surprise of the evening Mr Bill Kelly who blew the audience away with this alternative humour and impressions, by far one of the best speakers heard on the circuit this year. On behalf of both lodges we would like to thank all of the Brethren and visitors who supported the event in particular the sponsors of the tables and donations made on behalf of the auction and raffle prizes.
